Brewery restaurant Huvila operates in an old mental hospital, built in 1912. It is located in a park on the edge of Saimaa. The restaurant milieu is calm and stylish, and the scenery outside varies with the four seasons in Finland. This year, Huvila as many reasons to celebrate: the villa itself celebrates its 100th year in existence, and the Huvila restaurant and brewery started 11 years ago.
The Huvila kitchen prides itself on using the freshest local produce and a versatile approach on Finnish freshwater fish as ingredients. The key words for our cuisine are quality, freshness, local produce and hand-made approach. The dining experience is further enhanced with wines, carefully selected and imported by the restaurant, as well as beers and ciders from our own brewery.
The Huvila Brewery traditionally follows the British ale school of brewing, but to celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Brewery will introduce a new Lager to accompany the ales. There are six Huvila Brewery products available on tap: five beers and one cider. The beers and ciders are brewed on premises and are only available in our own restaurant. Local brews at their best!
The Huvila terrace features also live music. Top Finnish artists and bands entertain audiences in the long summer nights. In the past years, the Panimo Club has featured for example Chisu, Paleface, Anna Puu, Haloo Helsinki!, Tuomo Prättälä, Melrose, Honey B. & the T-Bones, Poets of the Fall, Don Johnson Big Band, 22-Pistepirkko, Jean S… The best spots on our outdoor 200-seat terrace are reserved for diners. We have seats for music connoisseurs and the standing area in front is for passionate moshers.
And at the end of a hard day’s night, you can find a bed upstairs. Huvila is not a huge hotel complex, but we have two cozy Bed & Breakfast rooms above the brewery.
